History
of Ashon Ventures |
|
The
company started its New Zealand operations in 1989.The business initially
duplicated the very successful format of the associated company in Fiji -
Ashabhai & Co.- one of Fiji’s largest importing and marketing
companies, representing Frucor Beverages, Heinz-Wattie and Johnson &
Johnson.
From the outset Ashon Ventures focussed on what they
knew best –importing a small range of products, targeted predominantly
at the Polynesian market.
In 1993, following a period of strong growth the product
range was expanded to include lines with wider appeal. Listings in key
accounts resulted and the company continued to expand.
The selection of quality products at realistic prices
has been, and will continue to form the basis of Ashon Ventures business
philosophy.
The growth that has been achieved over the past ten
years has predominantly been achieved in the Auckland metropolitan region.
Ashon Ventures (NZ) Ltd is now a major importer,
distributor and marketer of fast moving consumer goods in New Zealand with
a good number of agency lines now ranked in AC Neilsen scantrack rankings.
With increased resources Ashon Ventures are already
focusing on new market opportunities and are increasing their
representation in the rest of New Zealand.
A key element of this strategy is that the expansion
will not affect the personal service that was so critical in the early
growth stages of the company.
Extra sales and merchandising staff have been employed
to ensure that the high standard of personal service is maintained.
The product-sourcing network has improved significantly,
as we now sourcing products for New Zealand, Fiji and all Pacific Island
markets that we service via another international company.
The above scenario now places us in a much stronger
position with suppliers, as we are able to obtain very competitive pricing
based on the larger volumes we are now marketing. This places Ashon
Ventures in good stead to tender for house brand business which we are
currently doing.
